GO MAINE.org: Commuter Connections

Create a TDM Plan

A transportation demand management (TDM) plan – also known as a commuter benefit plan – is a program to improve transportation access and reduce traffic congestion by encouraging employees and other  work site visitors to use sustainable transportation options such as carpools, vanpools, buses, bikes, walking, ferries, trains or telecommuting. TDM/commuter benefit plans often include incentives for using regional transportation resources.

Some employers are required to develop TDM plans by their municipal government as a condition for a facility expansion or other change to their work site. Still other employers choose to create a TDM plan as means for providing a low-cost benefit for their employees.
