Celebrate GREEN STREETS in Greater Portland on the last Friday of every month! Leave your car at home on the last Friday of every month with Green Streets Walk/Ride Day! Wear green and commute green! Put on a green T-shirt, pants, socks - whatever - and tell otehrs why you're wearing it! And walk, bicycle, ride the bus, carpool or vanpool! Portland Green Streets is a grassroots initiative comprised of people who commute through, live, work, study, or send children to school in the Greater Portland area. For environmental, health, safety, and community-building reasons, we have created Green Streets Walk/Ride Days which will occur on the last Friday of every month. On these days, we encourage people throughout the city to wear something green and to use green means of transportation. The idea is to hold a city-wide party on that day, with each individual, and institution, celebrating and encouraging in its own way.
